1. Description
- Vietnam long grain glutinous rice, known for its sticky texture, is derived from Thai glutinous rice varieties. It features long, white grains that are highly flexible and are traditionally used in Vietnamese dishes such as Chưng Cake and Mooncake. This rice is primarily grown in An Giang Province, particularly in Phu Tan, known for producing the highest quality glutinous rice. It is exported in significant quantities to China, the Philippines, and Malaysia.
- Vietnamese glutinous rice is cultivated three times a year: Winter-Spring (February-April), Summer-Autumn (June-August), and Autumn-Winter (November-December). Production areas include Long An, Dong Thap, and various provinces in the Mekong Delta.
