VIETNAMESE JAPONICA RICE
Varietal origin: Japonica rice, also known as Round rice, is a short-grain variety from Japan and is one of the two major rice types in Asia.
Growing characteristics: Japonica rice is widely cultivated and consumed in China, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. In Vietnam, it is primarily grown in the provinces of Dong Thap and An Giang.
Physical characteristics: Japonica rice is round, uniform, smooth, and pearly white, with a delicate, gentle aroma. When cooked, the rice is white, sticky, and easy to eat, even when cooled, as it retains its inherent softness. Because of these qualities, Japonica rice is a staple in Japanese cuisine.
