1. Introduction to Asuka 11

- Japanese company Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK) started Crystal Cruise based in Los Angeles in 1988. Founded in 1885, NYK is now considered the largest shipping company in Japan. They began phasing out passenger services after World War II to focus on operating freight ships. Their return to the passenger ship began when they ordered the Crystal Harmony in 1988 the year the cruise ship was newly established. Harmony has 8 passenger decks, 2 swimming pools, 8 bars, casino, fitness center, 277-seater theater, 461 exterior cabins, of which 260 have awning, 19 cabins inside, can be loaded up up to 940 passengers. Harmony mainly operates on yachts from San Francisco - Alaska, Los Angeles - Mexico and travels between Hong Kong and Beijing. Harmony is also occasionally operated on yachts around the world and on Nordic cruises between Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Ireland and the UK. This vessel was moved to NYK in 2006 to be operated under the name Asuka 11. The ship will likely be operated on the same routes as the original Asuka as traveling out of Yokohama - different ports across the country. Japan, the Japanese Islands and the Philippines, and the world cruises.
