- Product Description

Extreme Pressure Industrial Gear Oil

High performance, mild EP, industrial gear lubricant formulated with a sulfur-phosphorus additive system, which also provides rust and oxidation inhibition, a corrosion and oxidation inhibitor and a metal passivator. Designed primarily for industrial gear lubrication services where loads and shock loadings are high.

High thermal stability EP system maintains clean gear and bearing surfaces, minimizing deposits which interfere with effective lubrication. High oxidation stability limits in-service viscosity increases, which lead to energy losses.

Extremely effective EP system forms a protective film in areas of metal-to-metal contact, minimizing wear rates and maintaining efficient transfer of power. Good water separation and effective rust inhibitors protect surfaces against rust and corrosion. High thermal stability additive system reduces the formation of high temperature compounds which can be corrosive to bearing materials. The effective corrosion inhibitor provides additional protection for metal components.

- Premium quality industrial gear oils

Shell Omala Oils are premium quality, lead-free, extreme pressure oils designed, primarily, for use for the lubrication of heavy duty industrial gears. Their high load carrying capacity and anti-friction characteristics combine to offer superior performance in gears and other industrial applications. They are formulated using high viscosity index, solvent refined, base oils and incorporate a special sulphur-phosphorus additive to provide an extreme pressure performance significantly better than that provided by leaded gear oils.

Shell Omala Oils should not be used for automotive hypoid gears. The appropriate Shell Spirax Oil should be used for this purpose.

Shell Omala Oils have excellent water separation properties. Excess water can be drained easily from lubrication systems. (Water can greatly accelerate surface fatigue on gears and bearings as well as promoting ferrous corrosion on internal surfaces. Water contamination should be avoided or removed quickly as possible after the occurrence)

Shell Omala Oils are unlikely to present any significant health or safety hazard when properly used in the recommended application, and good standards of industrial and personal hygiene are maintained. Avoid contact with skin. After skin contact, wash immediately with soap and water.

Mobilgear XMP Series extra high performance industrial gear oils are designed to provide optimum equipment protection and oil life even under extreme conditions. Mobilgear XMP Series are based on high quality mineral base stocks and an advanced proprietary additive system designed to provide excellent protection against conventional wear modes such as scuffing but also provides a high level of resistance against micropitting fatigue. It also offers the potential for improved lubrication of gearbox rolling element bearings. Mobilgear XMP Series products offer outstanding rust and corrosion protection versus conventional gear oils, including seawater and acidic water protection. They show no tendency to plug fine filters even when wet and excellent compatibility with ferrous and non-ferrous metals even at elevated temperatures.
