1. Product description

Decal, self-adhesive label, pressure-sensitive label are different names for the same product: Decal. A decal is a label pre-coated with pressure-sensitive adhesive.

Unlike other types of labels (which adhere only when wet, heated, or manually glued), decals are pre-coated with adhesive and backed with a protective liner. Once the liner is removed, the label adheres to the surface with light pressure.

This adhesive does not require water or heat only light pressure is sufficient for adhesion.
2. Decal structure

Facestock layer: paper, plastic film, or fabric. All printed content appears on this layer.

Adhesive layer applied to the underside of the facestock.

Silicon (or PE-silicon) coating applied to the liner surface to prevent adhesion between the adhesive and the liner.

Release liner, which may be Kraft or Glassine paper, protecting the adhesive prior to use.
