AUTOMATED FEEDING SYSTEM FOR CNC MACHINES
AFM has successfully delivered an automated part feeding system to a customer specializing in precision mechanical processing within the supporting industries sector. With just a single X-Z Transfer Mechanism, two Mazak CNC machines are now fully automated in terms of part loading.
Designed with simplicity and efficiency in mind, the system consists of six main modules:
Part Feeding Unit
This unit uses a vibratory feeder to separate and align parts, directing them outward via a guide mechanism. In addition, AFM’s engineering team creatively integrated a rotating mechanism, allowing the gripper to easily access and pick up the parts.
X-Z Transfer Mechanism
This mechanism utilizes Mitsubishi servo motor technology to ensure high precision during movement. The carefully ed motors also meet the customers required speed specifications.
Part Gripping Mechanism
The gripping mechanism employs SMC cylinders (Japan) to enhance precision when transferring parts from the feeder to the CNC machine.
Product Cleaning Unit
Before parts are unloaded from the CNC machine, AFM integrated a cleaning mechanism to ensure that no foreign matter remains on the product. During this step, the part is securely clamped to prevent it from falling during transfer.
Conveyor
A compact conveyor system is installed at the part feeding area and routes finished products to a predefined tray. Operators simply need to load raw parts into the feeder and collect the finished parts after a few hours of operation.
Control System
The control system is stable, flexible, and user-friendly for operators. All components are sourced from leading global brands such as Siemens, Schneider, Mitsubishi, and Proface.
