- In the past, Kopi Luwak is a type of coffee that ferrets eat the best and ripe red coffee fruits on coffee trees. The coffee beans are passed through the digestive organs of the ferrets, creating the special taste of coffee during fermentation. Then those coffee beans are picked up, washed, dried and roasted.
