CNG PRESSURE REDUCING UNIT (PRU) STATION INSTALLATION
❖ What is CNG?
CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is natural gas extracted from natural gas fields or found alongside crude oil during extraction. It undergoes a cleaning process to remove impurities and heavy components, then transported through pipelines to compression plants or directly compressed into CNG transport vessels.
❖ Components of the SNG System
The LPG/Air Mixing Station, also known as the SNG Station or Mixer System, includes the following main components:
- LPG source: Can be LPG C3/C4, pure propane, or pure butane.
- Mixing gas source: Typically compressed air or inert gas (N2) to reduce the calorific value of LPG.
- Mixer station: For both LPG and Air streams.

❖ Installation Process:
- Sub-station topographic investigation
- Provision of preliminary design, layout drawings showing installation positions, enclosed wall and foundation for PRU station
- Detailed schedule outlining construction, installation, testing, validation timelines, and necessary legal procedures
- Installation of gas pipelines from the station to gas-consuming equipment
- Construction of PRU station infrastructure: fencing, concrete foundation pouring, water system, electrical system
- Provision of complete documentation including PRU station drawings, fire protection plan description (PCCC), coordination operation procedures
- PRU station installation
- Commissioning
- Acceptance testing and handover
