SEAFOOD WASTEWATER TREATMENT

►General description

- Seafood wastewater treatment is activities performed to remove solids that may float on the water surface.

- The treatment used is mainly dependent on the operations performed in fish processing plants and the wastewater treatment requirements. With more stringent norms, more complex processes such as flotation and biological treatment are required.

► Wastewater treatment process

1. Screening:
- By screening, relatively large solids (0.7 mm or more) can be removed in one main treatment. This is one of the most common treatment methods used by food processing plants because it rapidly reduces the amount of solids when discharged.

2. Oil and grease separation:
- Seafood wastewater contains a variable amount of grease, which depends on the usage process, the species treated and the professional process. To remove grease, gravity separators can be used, providing large oil particles to float on the surface.
