INTRODUCE AND FEATURE

Extrusion is a (thermo) mechanical manufacturing process by which a compressed material is forced to pass through a chain with the section of the part to be obtained. A long product (tube, pipe) is continuously formed and flat (plate, sheet, film). Production rates are high.

This process should not be confused with the threading, which also involves passing a material through a chain, but under the effect of traction. This process is conducted cold.

Extrusion gives parts with even more precise shapes than those made with stamping.
