ALUMINUM EXTRUSION
INTRODUCE AND FEATURE
- Extrusion is a (thermo) mechanical manufacturing process by which a compressed material is forced to pass through a chain with the section of the part to be obtained. A long product (tube, pipe) is continuously formed and flat (plate, sheet, film). Production rates are high.
- This process should not be confused with the threading, which also involves passing a material through a chain, but under the effect of traction. This process is conducted cold.
- Extrusion gives parts with even more precise shapes than those made with stamping. In addition, the parts have excellent surface conditions, which often allows them to be used without additional machining. The average mass of extruded parts is about one kilogram.
