What is PPA Plastic?
Polyphthalamide (PPA) is a semi-aromatic polyamide derived from terephthalic or phthalic acid. It is available in both semi-crystalline and amorphous forms, with a glass transition temperature of approximately 255°F. Semi-crystalline PPA is primarily used for injection molding and other melt-processing techniques. This type of PPA has a melting point of around 590°F and is typically supplied in opaque, rectangular forms.
PPA exhibits a tensile strength that is 20% higher than nylon PA6 and outperforms PA66 under high-temperature and high-humidity conditions. Its flexural modulus is also 20% greater than that of nylon. Additionally, PPA demonstrates superior resistance to gasoline, oils, greases, and coolers compared to PA. As a high-temperature-resistant nylon, PPA can withstand temperatures up to 200°C while maintaining excellent dimensional stability. Its chemical resistance is also superior to PA6 and PA66.
